I have been practicing law for five years.   For the last two years, I have been self-employed, working in a college town doing general practice work.  Recently, I passed the patent bar on the first try, and I received my registration earlier this year.

My office is located less than three miles from a major research university.  At present, I am the only registered-patent attorney within 60 miles of the school.  Given my virtual geographic monopoly, I would like to capitalize upon this opportunity by actively marketing my firm to this university.  However, being a new patent attorney, I have neither the experience, nor the support structure to activate this untapped potential by myself.  To this end, I am looking for a member of a reputable patent law firm to mentor me and to allow me to associate with his/her firm (while continuing to live in this community).  In return, I will make my best efforts to market our joint venture to the university, serving as the joint venture's local liason to the professors and students. 

Naturally, all fee-splits will be administered in accordance with the rules of ethics for the USPTO and/or my home state.  Furthermore, it is important that the participating firm not be limited to any one scientific field, since the joint-venture would need to address all areas of patent law.  Please PM me if you are interested.  When you do, please identify the name of your firm, your firm's address, your telephone number, and where applicable, your website.  These safeguards are necessary to ensure that I do not receive spam or solications from unreputable organizations.

If you fail to get some good PM bites, have you considered the following?  I don't think you're going to storm the market as an untested noob (patent-wise, not knocking your legal experience).  I also doubt the likelihood that other small firms who might contact you through these fora, who don't already have a relationship with the local U, would be able to get their feet in the door either.  An established research U is going to have pet firms they already like to work with, and auditioning a new firm takes effort that the TT officer may not want to expend.

But - look at the PTO patent grants website (below; type in local U's name and use "assignee" in pull-down selector) and see which various law firms perform the patent work for your local U.  Then focus on the firms who cover technology arenas where you at least have arguable ability given whichever engineering training is yours.  Possibly one or more of them might be willing to "trial" you in some regard?  Or maybe not.

I also suggest you to find their sites. It's much more convenient and faster sometimes.
