industry experience an advantage?

Hi,

can anybody tell me to which extent experience in the pharmaceutical industry (medicinal chemistry) would be considered an advantage when I am intending to switch to an IP career (PA + Law School)? I guess at a certain point age becomes the concern for a potential employer. I am 33 with PhD+postdoc+2years medchem.
