Patent Bar Exam Outline
« on: 04-15-04 at 11:06 am »

I created an outline to help me study for and PASS the patent bar on my first attempt.  I took the BarBri review course in addition to about 10 old exams and made this 50 page outline from what I learned.  The USPTO repeats a lot of questions from previous exams and I incorporated many repeated questions as well as unique questions in this outline. It also includes the most recent changes to the MPEP.

I have already sold over 150 outlines and I have a 100% feedback rating on ebay!!!  You can purchase the outline for $24.99 (or $19.99 for students).

Under the new format (which takes effect starting with the next exam), you will not be able to bring in any material. The only material that you’ll be able to use is the electronic version of the MPEP, which they will provide. This means that spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on other review products that you can’t even bring into the exam can be unnecessary. My outline is concise, inexpensive, and teaches you all of the material that is tested.

Additionally, there is a very helpful 2-page table of contents that references this outline and the MPEP.  This is very helpful when studying and while taking practice exams.  It helps you become familiar with the MPEP, which will prove invaluable on the exam.  Since the outline and table of contents are in electronic format, you can make changes to them based on your own strengths and weaknesses.

Please let me know if you have any questions or if you would like a sample page of the outline.

Thanks and best of luck.

The patent bar exam outline is still for sale on eBay.  The price of the outline is currently $19.99.  There is also a patent bar review CD for sale on eBay for $34.99 ($29.99 for students), which includes:

-the outline (50 pages);
-12 old exams (with questions, answers and explanations);
-the MPEP (fully searchable); and
-more.

Also, when updates to the outline are made, they are emailed to you at no additional cost.  The next update is scheduled for a week or so and it will include material that has been frequently tested on the computer exams.  After the update, the price of each product will go up about $5-$10.  However, if you purchase either item before the update, you can take advantage of the lower price and have the update emailed to you at no extra charge.

The items on eBay are called:
Patent Bar Exam and Table of Contents
Patent Bar Review CD w/ outline, old exams & more

Over 225 outlines/CDs have currently been sold so far, while maintaining a 100% feedback rating on eBay.

Please email me if you have any questions.  I am happy to help.

Thanks and best of luck!

Is the MPEP electronically searchable using a "Find" command?

I'm wondering if they have a question on the test, whether you need to know where in the MPEP to look for the answer, or if you can input a keyword, and have all instances of the keyword come up on screen, so you can find the information which will most likely address the test question?

Thanks, Jon

You cannot search the entire MPEP for a specific word or phrase, but you can search for a specific word or phrase in the individual chapters of the MPEP.  What I did was use the MPEP index to see what chapter the topic was in generally, and then use the search function for the word or phrase while in the chapter.  I thought in some ways, because you could do this on the computer, that the computerized exam is actually easier.
