I invented a new kitchen product in 2006.  My product is considered a "gourmet" product, as the materials I used to make my product are the best I was able to find.  Since 2006, I have been able to design & register my product Logo, design & copyright the retail packaging; locate and contract with a supplier outside the US; and managed to convince one (1) well known wholesale customer to advertise & sell my product in several different countries (in all 12 colors and both sizes).  I have also sold my product to numerous website customers in 13 states in the US.

I must confess that there have been a couple attempts to copy & market my product idea.  However, all efforts to copy my product have come very short of the mark.  1) the manufacturers of these copies have used cheap materials; and 2) even though the product idea is the same...they look almost comical when they're in use.

I have had problems, off and on, with a back injury I suffered in 1991.  For this reason, coupled with the fact that I will be 60 soon, I have been seriously thinking about selling my business, and enjoying my grandchildren, while I am still able to do so.  It may help if you are aware that, before I started this business venture, I have had no business experience, either wholesale or retail.

My 1st question to you is;

1)  Is it possible to for me to sell my Trademark...if I include my Copyright, my current Internet customer contact information; inventory on hand (approximately 250 boxes in each color (x12 colors); in both sizes (Sm & Lg), and my business supplies & equipment; and,

2)  how would I go about finding a buyer?

Thank you, in advance, for your time and consideration of my questions.

Yes, as part of the sale of your business, you can include intellectual property such as trademarks, patents, and copyrights.

To find a buyer, you should look for a business broker.  These are companies that can establish a valuation, and match business buyers and sellers.  Be sure the broker you choose has experience selling businesses similar to yours.

You could also try directly approaching potential buyers...  companies that produce and distribute products aimed at the same market.  Sometimes, an existing customer can also be a potential business buyer.
