Can i replicate a publication over 25 years old?
« on: 06-26-11 at 03:32 pm »

Hello,

For a long time now I have had what I consider to be a great idea of replicating a "trade magazine" online and making it fully searchable.

The idea is to scan in each page of the magazine and "tag" them with relevant keywords so that users can easily find the information they are after as there is no other way to easily search the archives of a magazine which has been going for 30 years and contains such a great deal of information.

Ive spoken to the publisher about doing this with their permissions on a split profit basis but although they liked the idea I couldnt get the final go ahead.

Ive just researched copyright laws a little and am i right to believe that I can replicate any issues which are 25 years old??

Thank you
Craig

EDIT : The magazine is based in the UK, Im from the UK and the website would be hosted in the UK.
