JOB LEAD - Mechanical
« on: 06-10-11 at 06:16 am »

Everyone:

A friend of mine recently emailed and indicated that her firm is seeking to hire a "mid-level" associate with a mechanical engineering background.  Some EE would be nice, but is not required.  Job duties to include patent application drafting and prosecution, both domestic and foreign, as well as client counseling and opinion work.  Firm in question is ~5 years old and employs 9 attorneys.  I know the partners well, and can highly recommend working for them.

Position is likely in Northern VA, but I know some attorneys at the firm telework from as far away as Pennsylvania.

Since ME based positions are few and far between nowadays, I thought I would post the opening here.  If interested, let me know and I will give you more info on the firm offline.

Best,

Klav

Positions for those with 3-8 years of experience are far from scarce (which is what this posts seems to be referring to, correct me if I am wrong)...

It is the positions for those with 2 or less years of experience or 9+ years of experience (without book) that are scarce.

Jobs for MEs in general, regardless of experience level, are scarce.  That is what the post is referring to.

There isn't a lot of ME type work to go around.  Also there has been this belief that EEs can do ME work but MEs can't do EE work, so firms don't bother hiring MEs when they can pick up EEs to do the ME work when it comes in.

Hi Klav,
I sent you an email last week to the gmail account you have on your profile, did you get it?

I did, and I replied this morning.

Sorry for the delay.  I do not check that email address often, as noted in my signature.  Best to PM me through the board.

Best of luck.

BP hit the nail on the head.  I haven't seen a listing for a pure mechanical attorney in some time.  Experienced or not.

Thank you, I just got it.  No apologies needed.  I should have paid attention to your signature line.

Thanks again.

Seems like most are now in-house gigs.  I do get a call every few months for an ME for an in-house gig, but haven't seen a posting for a firm gig in a long time.

Where at?  I know Womble was looking for someone in the SE at least three of four months ago.

Ah, found it
