What is a reasonable starting salary for an IP attorney in Boston, MA, working for a large firm that focuses on IP litigation? Assume the person went to Boston U and got a BA in political science and then got their law degree from a law school such as Harvard or Columbia. Assume the person had good grades, good resume, etc.

What would their expected total compensation be? (salary + bonuses, etc) Is there anything that might increase their salary?

Thank you! Any info in helpful!

My guess would be anywhere from $35-160k/year.  Keep in mind that a degree in political science is nigh worthless for IP and that the legal economy isn't exactly booming right now.  A Harvard degree generally commands a premium in non-Boston markets, but you can literally throw a rock in Boston right now and hit a Harvard student that wants to stay in the city.
