Website copyright designation format
« on: 05-09-11 at 11:26 am »

What is the correct format of a website copyright designation?

I searched and it is not clear to me whether the year of the first publication should be included or not. If so, is this the first year when the website was published online? E.g. (c) 1997-2011

Some website copyright indications include only the date of the current year, e.g. (c)2011 Why so?

Thanks for your advice.

There is no "correct format," because the notification is not a legal requirement for copyright protection.

The major reason for including a notice is to let people know that you are serious about protecting your rights.   I usually list the range of years myself.
