OHIM announced on its website the news about the start of work on creating a global registry including geographical indications relating to wines and spirits.
The register shall be established by the World Trade Organization. Some of main topics discussed on the substance of this registry are: the legal basis of the terms that members would notify; how the registration system would be run; the legal consequences of registration; fees and costs; the treatment of developing countries; and the terms of participation, including whether taking part would be voluntary or compulsory.
