We are a non profit historical foundation with an educational mission.  The historic property we focus on had four owners in the film industry between the 1920's-1950's.  They made almost 400 films, many nominated for Academy Awards in a broad variety of categories, and several Oscars brought home.  We want to show the movies made by these individuals (we have the media in our historic collection) The studios making these films (Fox, MGM, UA, etc.) have maintained the copyrights and we find no references to these films being public domain.  We do not charge admission.  We do accept donations which we think clouds the issue a bit.  The films of these four individuals (Jose Mojica; Anita Loos; Mary Loos; Lyle Wheeler) are shown for educational purposes to members of our non profit foundation.  Is it legal for us to show this media or do we need to rent media for single showings from Swank which seems to handle all the 'rights' for the studios we've contacted?
