Thanks for helping me with a previous question in the Misc. category.

My question today is more out of curiosity. I'm currently working on a short multimedia presentation. In the process I had to contact several artists for permission request purposes.

Why is it some artists will grant you permission only if  the final product is not going to be burnt onto a CD or shown on the world wide web?

It's mostly the CD clause I don't understand, but I'm willing to learn.
