Penalties of Stealing vs. Infringing
« on: 03-08-05 at 06:56 pm »

A very interesting comparison of penalties for hypothetically downloading 22 episodes of "Alias" -- the TV show -- using bit-torrent vs. shoplifting the full 6-DVD set containing the same 22 episodes.

For millenia, I have laughed at people taking what was/still is my Father's.  But now, when you start taking your own possessions (electronically transferred impulses) the fines grow exponentially, so now I laugh even hardier.  Thank you for this fine doubling over experience.
