copyright & blueprints for container houses

I am looking for info on copyright laws in regards to blueprints for container house/houses. Do the copyright laws pertaining to blueprints for home/or houses the same for container houses? I do not have any blueprints yet, but I would like to know if I got blueprints and wanted to make changes would I have to go though the designer of the blueprints or not?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can file a copyright for architectural designs. You'd first need to determine who owns the blueprints/design, you or them. That should be in the contract you signed.
