a question about patent job/law school
« on: 11-02-10 at 11:31 am »

I am a Bio PhD student and will graduate next May. Just got 166 in this Octocter's LSAT. Should I apply to law schools now(some of the deadlines are in Feb or March next year)? Or I should try to find a patent job first then looking for a local part-time law school?
Not sure what kind of schools I could try with this score.
Nobody around me is going this direction so feel kind of clueless...

With a 166 and PhD, you could reasonably apply to many tier 1 schools, including all of the tier 1 patent schools.  Last I heard, Mason, GW, and Georgetown had a median LSAT of 166-172.  There are also more specialized (but lower ranked) schools such as Franklin Pierce, which are well known for IP but not much else.

There are no easy answers to your question re: whether you should apply for jobs or go to school first.  Why not do both and hedge your bets?
