This question goes out to the patent professionals.

What qualities make up the lawyers whom you know that truly thrive in patent law (especially in patent prosecution and counseling)?

Thanks!

Enjoys days full of reading and writing
Enjoys working as a solo rather than as part of a team
Places a high value on autonomy
Finds something new even when doing the same old thing
Good communication skills

and counseling)?

Add to all the above: good at communicating with a wide range of audiences: solo inventors, CEOs of start-ups, inhouse counsel at BigCorp.

LOL. Thanks for the insights!

I am considering making a move into patent law to prosecute in the technology area related to my academic background. With some exposure to patents, university tech transfer, and start-ups, I have a fairly good sense that I would be a good fit for this type of work. However, changing a career can be daunting, so I appreciate anything I can learn from those in the field.

I'm glad this website is here. I've enjoyed a good deal of the posts.
