I'm getting antsy as well. I did email a hiring manager who said they should begin contacting folks for interviews "in the next several weeks". A lot of the prior posts stated that TC1600 was looking to hire for the Oct 12th start date. Given the fact that no interviews have been scheduled so far.... not sure if that'll happen...

i think training dates are 10/12 and 10/25.
yes, i'm also a comp sci for gs7 and gs9. NOR with EL for both grades. i received it more than a week ago but haven't heard anything since.

I have received a NOR...but it took a few weeks. I submitted my app on 23AUG2010, and didn't receive it until 14SEP2010.
I haven't heard a WORD from anyone in TC1600. Called HR today and was only told that anyone who is eligible was placed on the "Cert" list, and that it has been submitted to TC1600. I spoke with an SPE in 1600, who only said they'd start calling/interviewing in the "next several weeks". A few posts have said TC1600 is looking to bring people in for the 12OCT2010 class...so I guess we'll see...

I am a PhD in Biochem with 6 years post-doc experience, including in pharma.

I submitted my app on 8/17 and received the NOR on 8/19.  Also, have not heard anything from SPE's in TC1600.  I called HR to inquire about my application and they verified that my name was on the cert list that was sent over to TC1600 last Thursday.  So, I'm hoping to receive a call sometime soon for an interview... but nothing yet-ugh!

Hi all, been lurking for a few days while researching the pto and just wanted to put in a word about what's happening on my end.  Just a bit of background info...BS in physics/bio currently doing ms in health physics (radiation, radiological devices).

Applied for the physics gs7/9 on 8/18.
Got the NOR the same day.

On 9/6 I cold called and emailed the hiring contact.  I got his machine but surprisingly he called me back... unfortunately I missed the call.  Tried contacting him for the next week or so to no avail. 

On 9/18 I got an email saying I'm scheduled for an interview on the 24th.  (tomorrow)

I'm pretty surprised I even got an interview actually, a bunch of people on the forum have much more experience than I do (ms, PhD, research exp).  Hopefully I can sell myself enough to get hired!

Hey all, thought I might share my experience. I just got off the phone with HR and got an offer in TC 3600 at GS 9/8. I applied on 8/25 for the ME GS-9 position only and got my NOR two days later on 8/27. About a week later I started emailing and cold calling everyone I could at the PTO. On 9/9 I emailed/called all of the hiring contacts in TC 3600 and 3700 (the relevant TCs for my background) along with a number of SPEs in art units I was interested in. One of the SPEs I spoke with told me that his unit was not hiring but he would circulate my resume to other SPEs in his TC that he knew were hiring. I sent him my resume and called him back a few days later (9/13) to follow up. I asked him for the names of the SPEs that he had given my resume to and I called them the same day (9/13). One of those SPEs was receptive and I asked him if I could come in for an interview which we set up for 9/16. Interview went well and I followed up with the SPE and his Director the same day. Got my request for OF-306 and PIV the next day (9/17). Sent everything back the next buisness day (9/20 due to the weekend). I also called the HR contact in my email on 9/20 and chatted her up to see if she could speed things along. She was very nice and extremely helpful because I got the phone call with an offer earlier today (9/23).

That makes less than a month from application to offer. If you want my advice call, call, call. All you need is one good interivew with a SPE that wants you to come on board and you'll likely get one a lot faster if you call them.

I am starting on 10/25. When I called on 9/20 the HR contact asked me if I could start on 9/27. I am currently employed so that didn't work for me. I told her that I wanted to start on 10/25, which is the date I got, but I am sure if I had said I wanted to start on 10/12, that they would have given me that date instead.

I had my phone interview for the gs-7 mechanical engineering examiner position Thursday and was told I would get "employment papers" sent to me sometime Thursday or Friday. I have yet to receive them though. Has anyone else gotten them that was a part of this round of interviews?
