Is this right?
« on: 08-05-10 at 03:36 pm »

Rangers Football Club removed this guy's vid on youtube just because he showed the new Rangers shirt. It's true, I read about this in my local newspaper. Is that right? They don't allow him to show it over the Net but it's ok for him to wear it outside where passers-by can see it?

Did they have the right to do that?

Edit: And what about the rest of him? Too bad you can't copyright your face or something eh?

Probably wasn't any infringement of copyright or trademark, but depending on terms of use, they could have had the right to do it just to keep the complaining party out of their hair.

BTW, it looks like "Rangers Football Club" is Scottish, so the OP may be in the UK.  I have no idea what differences there are between UK copyright law and US copyright law, so cannot comment on the legitimacy of the takedown request.

However, considering how inaccurate "professional journalists" are when they scribble out a story, I'd offer good odds that there was more to the takedown request than "he wore our new joisey!"
