Invention Claim and Disclosure for the Invention Entitled;
Animal Repellent Device
Invention Conceived by JP 080310
 ©  Copyrights All Rights Reserved

What I claim to be my invention is a device used to ward off large animals
such as bear or mountain lions, the device is comprised of a electronic
device that contains a pre-recorded barking dog. the device is hand held
and can be carried where it would be ready for use, and can be programmed
be activated by motion detection.

Addition
And may be activated by a, "walking", or "hiking" stick, with trigger for the device, using remote sensor and may activate, "compressed air". "sound making", device, carried on person or on back pack.
Stick would also contain gas repellent, and or "electric shock", etc.

Not Patented
Not Searched
Not Tested

But it is a nice thought and might be worth a U.S. Patent
that might make you slightly rich !

I can be liberal.

I saw you said, "Not Searched", but I'm guessing this is one you could locate a lot of relevant prior art for pretty readily - I'd be surprised if a number of things like haven't been done.

That said, you should probably note that bears and mountain lions eat dogs, so you might want to re-title your device, "Large Animal Dinner Bell".   :D

P.S., nope, I am not Nash Bridges, although I admit to copying Don Johnson's hideous mode of dress back when it was "cool".   ;)

that reminds me of a bill cosby joke, where an old timer told young bill to wear bells when out in the forest, because bears hate the sound of bears.  so, bill and his friends wear the bells, and his friends start disappearing one by one.  Finally a park ranger shows up, and says they found and killed a killer bear.  The cut the bear open, and it was full of....you guessed it..bells.

I'm gonna need the real thing wild bears, I guess grizzlys will yield the most

significant results and be the more profitable because of the National Park

incident occurrence,

 I'll just have to have someone test a few, . . .

If it doesn't work at first, I'll just have to notify the next of kin, . . .

Hey, that's what R and D is all about.

Come on, those patents are so old and probably expired by now right?  How can they be relevant....?

Dripping with sarcasm in case that wasn't clear, since I have heard this so many times in response to negative patentability opinions received by an inventor.

Interesting, . . Very Interesting, . .

If I ever pursue the advantages that a ball may present, if any, . .

the mow-over idea may inspire me to produce a removable ball !

Actually just a little extra art work, . . I like to spring those things on

Dog Day PM, . .

Thank you.

You could always retarget your invention to have it play the sound of a 12ga pump shotgun being racked, to scare off burglars.

JSonnabend,

I'm surprised at you, . .Surely your jesting Sire!, I can't possibly be detecting a bit a sin, . . in your response, . .

In any case, . . the stage has been set, . . a hiking stick that, shoots, shocks, and or  spurts under high pressure  repellent gas, is a valuable little item, . .
especially if it can take the beating and be indestructible.

Or you could just buy a .30-06.  Remember to cook bear meat to well-done temps to avoid trich.

If I had my choice and I wanted to camp in a National Forest where there were big bears and cats, an I was not permitted to carry a firearm, for any number of reasons,  . . and I was a hiker and possibly do some fishing, I wouldn't mind carrying a stick that shot out the same type of electrifier that the cops sap
the bad guys with. The stick is a good deal because unlike a pistol you can be carrying it most of the time, at other times you might sling it over your head and across your back.

I wouldn't mind carrying a 44 rifle,(that is a 44- O- 4), or side arm, but that doesn't always mesh, with the local environment, .
