Hi, I was directed here from another forum, I apologize if I post this incorrectly!

My question is that I would like to sell confetti I stamp/cut from the actual pages of novels (not copied pages, the actual novel pages themselves, of the book I own) – is this copyright infringement? (Again, I’m not copying, I’m using the actual pages themselves).

2. What if I took a recipe (without any pictures or anything around it) - just the ingredient list and cooking directions, and mounted that on a handmade greeting card. There would be some other embellishments involved, but that’s the gist of it. Again, not a copied page, but the actual page from the book. Would it be legal to sell these cards?

Are either of these scenarios copyright infringement? I am reselling a book I own, although, certainly in an altered state, but I am not selling copied pages. Thank you so much for your advice!

Most likely neither is infringement.   I do recall an old case where a court did find that mounting pictures from a book to a frame created an infringing derivative work.   I don't believe that case is considered good law.
