what should I do this summer?
« on: 02-14-05 at 11:24 pm »

I just discovered this site today, and I will appreciate any and all responses.

I am a 1L at a school typically is ranked by USNWR between 20 and 25.  I am currently ranked in the top 20% of my class.  As my moniker suggests, my background is in chemical engineering.  However, I went straight to law school without working (did the typical summer interships).

What should I do this summer?  I have interviewed at one boutique and three general practice firms, and have four more interviews scheduled for spring OCI.  I'm hoping that I get at least one offer, but the offer I really want is with the boutique firm because I really enjoyed meeting the attorneys and felt like I would fit and and enjoy the work.

If I don't get the job at the boutique and get another position at a general practice firm (some of which have an IP practice area), should I go ahead and take the offer or will that shut me out from the boutiques for next year?

Should I contact the boutique and tell them that I have four OCI interviews, but I can withdraw from them if I receive and accept an offer?

THank you all in advance!

(btw, sorry, i posted this exact same question in the wrong thread a few minutes ago)
