Any recommendations in the midwest for a draftsman (draftperson) for Patent Dwgs?  Does your recomended draftsperson  charge by the Figure or the Hour?  How much?

Thanks for any recommendations.

I don't know anyone in the midwest, but Northern Virginia Graphics will accept projects from anywhere (to my knowledge).  I've used them for ~8 years now, and highly recommend them.  Their billing schedule is flexible.  Ask for an estimate based on per figure and per hour charges.

I don't know anyone in the midwest, either.  But the 2 I've been using are remote from me in any event and I just do everything via email.  They're listed below.  I "inherited" them in the sense that they were being used already by the law depts when I got there.  Never had a complaint about work product.  Sorry I don't know anything about their prices as my paralegals handle the bills.

http://www.nbgraphics.com/ email nbga@nbgraphics.com, Bernadette Marshall runs it.  Atlanta area.

http://www.qualitypatent.com/ email qualitypatent@verizon.net, Richard Gathercole runs it.  Arlington area.  I have more experience with Quality Patent than with NB Graphics.

I like QP's samples.  I have no idea what any of those doodads do, but they look nifty.

I have been working with Global Patent Graphics for a couple years now and I am very impressed with their products. Bob Hatcher and his team are great to work with and their fees are very reasonable. I highly recommend them.

We do all of our work with them via e-mail and phone calls. They are very responsive. Out of NC I believe.

Hey guys, if anyone is looking for a patent draftsman in the Midwest or anywhere, I'm your man.  I have 15+ years of Autocad exp. and I currently do contract work for 2 intellectual law firms.  I've done hundreds of patents(design and utility).  I prefer to charge by the job, but I'm flexible.  Fast turnaround!  Feel free to get a hold of me with any questions.  Thanks.

Eric, thanks.  Beyond just CAD-type stuff, do you also work in 2D vector illustration to create line drawings?  Are you capable of hatching and stippling to create depth when you're not working in CAD?  Feel free to leave me your contact information by PM.  It might also be helpful to see some samples.  I do most of my own illustration, but when I need someone who's both good and fast for something beyond my skill level, I'll know who to turn to.  (Actually, I happen to have a job in mind.)

As a bonus, I'm in the Midwest.  Not that it really matters.  ;D

I have been working with a company called Max-Val for about a year now.  (http://www.maxval-drawings.com/).  POC - Tom Giesler @ 510-559-3710 or tom@maxval-drawings.com.

I think they are the drawing group of a larger organization.

I have been impressed with their quality, speed, responsiveness, and price. They are located in CA, but even given the time difference (I'm on east coast) I never have trouble connecting with them via phone or email, we do primarily correspond over email.

I'm a patient attorney in California and work with a company that goes by the name "Colombo Design".   Their services are superior to any patent draftsman I've work with and they're always on time.

Sure you are...

We do need more patient attorneys.  We don't need draftsmen pretending to be attorneys though.

I've been a member here since 04', but not active in the forums. I've been a professional patent draftsman since 1974. I produce drawings from all source materials including hen scratches and 3D model geometry. I have a substantial list of references and a website to help make my pitch (http://www.iplawdrawings.com). When you call, I pick up the phone. When you want the status of a project, I have your drawings and project information in front of me. You can reach me 24/7. I produce the drawings, my wife takes care of scheduling and bookkeeping. The price per sheet has actually dropped over the past few year, mostly due to the availability of engineering data (2D and 3D). The average price per sheet ranges from $40-$60, some more and some less. I work exclusively for IP attorneys.

I don't like the idea of posting a solicitation, except in this case I believe it is within the spirit of the thread. I intend to contribute to this forum regularly utilizing my decades of experience to benefit my fellow intellectual property associates.

At your service.
