I know there was another thread for this, but I think the discussion was going off on a different tangent...anyway, has anyone who interviewed heard from the PTO yet for the examiner's positions??  The website indicates that offers were going to be sent between last Friday and today...but as far as I know, nobody has actually posted they received a physical offer (email, letter, etc.) and only 1 person has posted they were offered via phone (but that was even before the 4/30-5/7 dates posted on the website I believe).

Is the PTO just slow on the process? or did they already issue offers?  FYI, my status on usajobs.gov has not changed...still "eligible--sent to official for consideration" or whatever.

Thanks.

Same status, and I haven't heard anything. There is a probably a lesson in all of this telling us what working for the PTO would be like.

Nah.  Just a lesson in how the HR department in the U.S. government works.  They have two speeds, slow and stop.

they NEVER tell you if they decided not to hire you or if the position is filled.
so you just apply and move on.
you can always call people in hr bugging them. i honestly think it wont hurt.
dont know how much it will help.

do you know anyone on the inside??

Has anyone contacted HR recently?  If so, did they give any useful information?

Did you apply for GS-9 and GS-7 grades as well?

They recommend applicants apply to every grade, so they have the best chance at getting hired.

I have know attorneys and PhD grads who start at GS-9/10. What qualified you as a GS11/5 ?

(Take note that GS9/10 is better than GS11/5, because a promotion from GS-9/10 takes you to GS11/7).

My understanding was that the job opening was only for GS-11... how do we apply for GS-9?

I have not heard anything either. My interviewer said that I should contact HR if I have not heard anything by May 10th...

Yeah I am under the same impression as Borkkiwi...I believe the PTO is only hiring GS11 right now b/c this is for the accelerated examiner track -- I think you need 1 year of prosecution experience minimum to be eligible since the training is only a few weeks or a month instead of the normal 8 months, so they want you to already know prosecution basics.

If anybody has updates from HR or an interviewer regarding the timeframe for us to hear back, please share, since it appears that they have not notified any selectees yet (highly doubt that NOBODY here got selected) and will not be making their April 30-May 7 timeline as posted on uspto.gov.

Thanks.

This is from a post in another string in the Patent forum, but I figure it applied to what we are discussing here:

"Just talked to HR on the 7th and they said that yes they WERE supposed to notify applicants by May 7th, but due to the extreme efficiency of the federal bureaucracy they will be informing people of the hiring decisions a minimum 1-2 weeks late."

"I also spoke with a cheerful HR person, and she informed me that the May 7th notification date is no longer accurate.  I inquired as to if she had any idea of an updated schedule, and she informed me that they were behind, and she had no other information available."
