Scientists from Britain have developed a new taxi cab that can run with the help of hydrogen fuel cell technology developed recently. This will be done by a group effort that includes some of the leading hydrogen cell developers in London. This program is guided by the Technology Strategy Board of UK. A hydrogen taxi cab looks similar to a London black cab, apart from certain changes made under the bonnet. This taxi will have a speed of 120 kilometers/hour and possesses faster braking than other gas fuelled cars. Like other vehicles, these cars do not produce any kind of emissions. They can operate even for a full day without refueling. Green campaigners have wholeheartedly welcomed hydrogen fueled cars. The introduction of hydrogen cars will eventually help in the generation of transport fuels from renewable energy resources. Wind and solar energy can be used for the process of splitting the individual components of water, from which hydrogen can be easily extracted and used as a fuel. With the increase in oil prices and the rise in CO2 emission, such alternatives can offer efficient and lucrative substitutes which are non-polluting at the tail pipe. These cars will be ready for full road trials by 2012 Olympics.
