I would be very surprised if you experienced any issues.

Many individual examiners are conservative, probably because Engineers tend to use logic, reasoning, and fact-based analysis rather than the emotion-based mindset of the crowd that bans plastic water bottles and grocery bags, and supports a regressive tax on energy as a solution to the unproven problem of a man-made apocalyptic climate phenomenon.

However, the overall PTO atmosphere is liberal.  It is the epideme of the lazy, unionized, non-thinking, bureaucratic government job.  Much like Timothy Geithner and many others in the Obama Administration who now impose severe regulations on the private sector of American industry, many at the PTO have never worked in the private sector, have little understanding of it, and most likely couldn't hack it there.

Yes.  I don't bother to spell check because I know people such as yourself will do it for me.

I think JJ made a Freudian slip, and meant to say that there is an epidemic of liberals at the PTO who are by nature lazy.

Please keep in mind:  We are fully accepting of participants in the keggers held on campus and winners of the "whose patent application can hit the ground first when dropped from the 10th floor window" competitions.

To think that examiners in the paperless office of the future won't have these excellent games.  :-\

There are plenty of people that can't hack patent examining. They quit for greener pastures in the private sector. "Can't hack it" can mean "can't stand the boring, repetitive, unrewarding job of patent examining".

With regards to the Obama Admin vs the conservatives,

The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. The Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work and then they get elected and prove it. P. J. O'Rourke

With regards to being, "lazy, unionized, non-thinking, bureaucratic"

"Ambition is a poor excuse for not having sense enough to be lazy".
Milan Kundera

"If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you'll never get it done".
Bruce Lee
