Can a copyright be backdated?
« on: 02-01-05 at 11:11 pm »

If a web-site is built in 2004, can the copyright notice claim it from say 1985?
The company the site is built for, only began business in about 2003. Also, the site (which is still under construction) is build by the same people who built ours and has a remarkable resemblance to ours so far. (I wonder why they have it up on the net when it is not anywhere near finished)
The businesses are the same industry (and we have actually, just sold our business on, so technically, I shouldn't be calling it ours still.)
Look forward to a reply. You legal gents do a wonderful thing, I feel like I am infringeing copyright on your grey matter... :-) Some good info on the site.
Cheers for now.
