Hate to burst any newbs' bubble but it sounds like the PTO is only hiring people with experience right now.  I'm not too sure what the PTO will be looking for in 2011.  But the current posting for Examiners without status is intended for people who have worked in law firms and were layed off.  It's a tough time for people trying to break into IP right now.  Best of luck to you all.

What about recent law school graduates who are registered PAs, but have no work history?  In your opinion, would this set one's application apart from the masses?

The Reg. No. is helpful, but if you haven't been dealing with Office actions for awhile, how would that make you better suited to the job than somebody who hasn't passed the bar?

JD only qualifies a person as a GS-09.

How did you hear back from them - did they call you or contact you through the mail? I also applied through JARS a couple of weeks ago...

thanks.

that's because it's a re-post of a message from 2005 by a spambot.  I wonder if those posts are made by some dude in Riga or whether it's completely automated (much more impressive).

Closed again Tuesday!

Thanks to the new incoming blizzard, I'd say we'll be off Wednesday for sure, maybe liberal leave on Thursday?

2-month amendments/after-finals still need to get done regardless of how many days off we have...sigh...

I think we'll see some leniency once the PTO is re-opened. If not I only have 2 two-monthers and one AF. My AU's policy is to excuse workflow points if the advisory is mailed within 30 days from when the AF is received.

Should examiners be happy about Fed Offices closing?  I imagine it hurts the USPTO budget.  That said, I am not sure if the Fed Gov't provides assistance because they are the ones making the call.  Anyone know this?

Ummm....refresher on the USPTO. The budget is based on the fees collected (mainly maintaince and filing fees) and not really related to the output of the agency. Those fees will come in whether it's a snow day or not, just a day or two later.

Why would examiners not be happy about two paid days off?

P.S. Tuesday is off too, and with the extra 10-20 inches forecast for tomorrow through wednesday, who knows about wednesday and thursday Grin
