Author Topic: Sitting the Bar with Unaccredited Comp. Sci. Degree?  (Read 402 times)

Hi all,

I'm a 3L, and my Career Services office is pushing IP onto me because I have a BS in Computer Science.  IP certainly appeals to me, but the trouble is that my CS degree, while from a pretty decent university, is also unaccredited.  I've been applying for jobs that say that I must qualify to sit the Patent Bar, but I'm worried that I might not be able to.

Here's my background: I have a CS degree, a BS, that I got in 2002.  The program has never been accredited.  I took one physics course (with a lab) in my freshman year but did not take any other physics (or chemistry) courses.

After I graduated, I was in grad school, also for Computer Science, for a while.  I did not complete the Master's, and I only got a small number of credits.

Between dropping out of grad school and going to law school, I worked for about year in the software industry.  My title was Software Development Engineer, and I wrote and translated engineering programs.

What do people in my position normally do?  Do I need to take another physics class?  Would my work in the industry and on an incomplete Master's suffice?  Am I entirely screwed?

Thanks in advance for any help. :)
