I'm brand new to this trademark and "IP" game, so forgive me if I'm asking any stupid questions Smiley

My company has developed a contest/gaming community for sports fans, and it's starting to gain popularity. We do not currently monetize the site in any way, but hope to in the future. The contests/games are all 100% free for anyone in the world to participate in and are based on professional sports. A typical example: who will win between the Denver Broncos and the Baltimore Ravens? We use their team name in this case and their logo.

My questions:

1. Is it legal to use the team names and/or logos on our site?

2. If not, are there any simple practices to get around the issue without sacrificing the entire purpose of using them in the first place?

3. If it is not legal, how do all the sites out there get away with it in almost the same practice that we are trying to do?

Thanks so much for your help in advance!

This and related questions have been asked and answered many, many times.  Search the forums and read the resulting Q&A's.  If you still have questions after doing that, post them back here.
