IP and Canadian universities

I've developed and used materials in several courses at several universities and colleges.  

The one university is insisting that I provide all my course materials to them for their use to enable them to pass the materials on to subsequent instructors.

I don't think I should have to provide any of the materials as I was not paid for development and the materials were developed before I taught at this university.  Am I incorrect?
