One can wonder what effect having gov in control of medical services will have on IP generation in the field of medicine.

My guess is that it will suffer a precipitous drop, taking work away from practitioners, and creating even more unemployment.

Chris, educate yourself on the issue first, then post.

Which issue are you referring to when you write "the issue" ?  I need to ask, because I perceive many issues present, which is the reason national health care is still under consideration fifteen years after Hillary first pushed it forward in the early nineties, and it wasn't clear from your message which issue you're referring to.

The message I sent, was that John Stossel was fired.   If this is the issue you reference, and he hasn't been fired, then, I'd be mis-staken.

thanks,

Chris

Indeed.  Sometimes control is direct, othertimes, indirect.  David Rockefeller once quipped over the merits of ownership, verses ability to control.  There is no real need to own something, if you can effectively control it.  Since control of money is within purview of gov, and since the med system depends on money, policies which affect the flow of money in the med system can and do have controlling effects.  There are many ways of accomplishing control, and policies affecting insurance companies that payout to the med services can have a controlling effect on medical services.  If there were no opportunity for control, then Mr. Obama could never speak of controlling costs, right ?

"control of money"?  "the med system depends on money"?

I am going to politely back out of this conversation now.

Probably a good idea, the issues are many and not simple, otherwise would have been solved by others long ago and we're probably not going to solve them.   I was just amazed that Stossel got fired over a piece, if that is indeed true.

Somewhat more balanced version of "Media Matters For America", but they (FAIR) don't publish all that much.

Still watching the Longhorns.  That Mack Brown is a piece of work, needless to say the players....  Locally, our HS ftbl team was 0 for 9 last night going into the tenth game, but didn't pull off tieing a 100 year old record, because they somehow won this last game.  In 1909 the team was 0 for 10.  I suspect the students who keep their chin up during times like those are the ones who do best later.  Working on teaching that.
