Wherein and Whereby clauses
« on: 11-03-09 at 02:53 pm »

Does anyone know how much weight these are given in examination? In litigation?  Because, generally they state the function or result of the system?

Regards

Whereby clauses add no patentable weight but can limit claim scope in litigation.  I hate them.

Wherein clauses generally are given patentable weight.
