Which Patent Bar Review Course to take?
« on: 09-04-09 at 08:33 pm »

I have BSEE, MSIE, and JD.  Been practicing civil litigation/insurance defense for 10 years.  Want to take the Patent Bar to position myself for the coming explosive growth with nanotech and China trade.  Which patent bar review is best bang for buck?  Thanks!

Primary patent study courses are:
1) PRG: very good but expensive [over $2.5K]; used versions are rare b/c the software and video expire one year from purchase
2) PLI: good but expensive; used versions available for as low as around $1K
3) PATBAR: requires some legal knowledge; used versions available for well under $1K
Since you are an experienced attorney, you will probably understand PATBAR a lot better than a novice.

Question: What is this explosive growth with China trade?
I have heard from a few patent attorneys that China-related patent business is picking up, but some say the growth is in transactional work whereas others say the growth is in litigation work.  Please share your understanding on the nature of this market growth with us.

Very helpful.  Thx, DZ.  I feel that China will be a huge source of work based on the fact it will continue to be a rapidly growing economy.  The G8 will basically become the G2 (US + China).  I sense that China plans to be like a Taiwan or Singapore, economically, but multiplied several hundred times in size.  Just my "gut feel" really.

Hi,

I have a PRG material that I would like to sell. I bought it first hand In Januaru 2009 for $2400. It includes the following items:

1. Patent Practice - 4 volume set (this covers all the chapters 1-27 in MPEP)
2. Working Papers Binder - Lecture Charts for chapters 1-27. This covers important points in every chapter in the form of a summary (handy during the last few weeks of revisions)
3. Video lectures on 3 DVD-Rs
4. Exam Preparation Software - It allows 2 installations. Also it expires within one year of the first installation. I installed the software in the first week of April 2009. Therefore, you can install it on one computer and it will expire in the first week of April 2010.

I would like to sell this material for $1200. Please let me know if you are interested. You can send me an email at jotrupti@gmail.com.
