TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
A few months ago I enrolled in the WIPO Summer Academy Course to be held in Cape Town 17-28 August 2009. I took the DL-101 preparatory course/exame, carefully planned two weeks off, paid the registration fees etc... I was regularly accepted, received the confirmation leter, a letter of welcome from the University of Western Cape and so on.
This morning 11.24 I received the following e-mail:
Dear Participants,
I refer to the joint offering of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) - South Africa Summer School on Intellectual Property (WSSS) with the Department of Science and Technology of the Republic of South Africa and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) at University of the Western Cape in Cape Town from August 17 to 28, 2009.
I regret to inform you that the WSSS has been postponed to November 30 to December 11, 2009. The venue will be communicated to you in due course. The postponement of the dates has been effected so that we do not jeopardize the early offering of the program when preparations are being finalized.
I would like to apologize for any inconveniences that this postponement may have caused. If you require further information, please contact Mr. Tshimanga Kongolo, Head, Professional Development Program at
Kongolo@wipo.int and
summerschool.southafrica@wipo.int.
We look forward to your participation in the program and I would like to apologize again for the inconveniences.
Sincerely yours,
THE COURSE WAS IN FACT CANCELLED - like other people I have concluded all the bookinfs. and the flying ticket cannot be changed.
I would like to get in contact with persons in my situation, so we can take the right steps together to get some re-imbursement and if not possible, have a trip around Cape City alltogether...
Leave your contacts or send me a PM.
