Asking the board for help...
« on: 06-21-09 at 06:24 pm »

I'm a newly graduated law student from UC Berkeley Law.  I am licensed before the USPTO and have a Comp Sci degree and 2 years exp at Microsoft.... but I cannot for the life of me find an entry level patent job.  Does anyone here on the board know of a patent firm that has a need for a high trained and motivated CS patent attorney?

Wait until Bilski is decided by the Supreme Court.  It should come back positive for Comp. Sci.  Also, Kappos is about to be the new USPTO director.  Both of these are big pluses for Comp. Sci.

Wait it out.

I'm guessing 4-5 months and then Comp. Sci. patents will be hot again.  Until then get a jon in computer programing or some other area of law, especially something where you have to go to court.  Then you can make the argument that you're employed in something relevent to patent prosecution or litigation.
