Patent Litigation/Lawsuit Funding
« on: 05-31-09 at 11:15 am »

Here is a source of funding for protecting or enforcing IP rights.  for example, I believe they can help provide the necessary funds to create a legal cause of action in an infringement case.

I think you mean they can fund litigation, not funds to create a legal cause of action - as that does not make any sense. There are plenty of funding groups, I know about 5 myself.

Tata, can you list the 5 you know about?  That might be a useful resource for small patent owners who visit this site.

Aside, NOT ON TOPIC

Actually, it could make "cents" if you bribe someone to create and maintain a cause of action in order to share in the recovery -- that would also constitute illegal champerty!  (Amazing that that term floated to the surface from decades-old law school lectures!)  cf.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Champerty;)

Sorry 'bout that.  Couldn't resist a lawyer's-lawyer-joke!

[For lay members, note that the term "cause of action" means a legally recognized basis for a suit (such as "slander"), or by extension the situation giving rise to a legitimate basis for a suit (e.g., calling me false nasty names in public).]

Proper legal advice requires full disclosure of facts-not appropriate to a public forum-and attorney research time and effort which has not been expended here.
