How to register an industrial design

Can someone refer me to the proper procedure for registering an industrial design idea?  Please advise.  Thank you

If the "industrial design" embodies novel, non-obvious ideas, then the design may be protectable via a utility patent.  

The design itself may also be subject to design patent protection (which protects the commercial impression of the design).  Similarly, the design may have elements of protectable trade dress.  

Finally, specific expressions (i.e., embodiments) of the design may be subject to copyright protection, as would drawings of the product.
