tool support

Hi,

Is there an issue in patenting a method that depends on certain feature tools support.
The patent idea is built around the fact that tools provide a certain feature. The feature is
implemented by almost all tools I am talking about, though the method and the user interface
might vary.

To give an example, compilers output detailed information if required by the user.
Though the information might be provided for certain end use, but one might also
use the same information to provide a novel solution

Hypothetically, if I understand your post correctly, I don't see issues other than the normal ones...what you seek to obtain patent protection regarding must be novel and non-obvious relative to any prior art.
