manual step in method / bilski
« on: 01-23-09 at 02:46 am »

Let's say I have a method that includes one step that must be performed by hand.  If the method otherwise complies with Bilski (transforms), is the one manual step a showstopper?

If any one step is tied to something statutory, then the claim is statutory.

mk1023 is correct.

However, not that doing something by hand transforms matter (typically -- I'm taking "by hand" quite literally).  Examples include surgical procedures and the famous 3-way comb-over patent.

Regards.
