: Do you have to be a lawyer to register a trademark with the US government ? Is there a easy form you can fill out ?

Dear Rick S,

No. In fact many people have managed to register trademarks without lawyers.
There is a problem though. If you screw up and don't know what you are doing, when the validity or enforcement of the trademark is imporant, THEN it can really hurt and cost.

We had a client that started to apply for their marks themselves. The got scared, just in time, and sought professional help.

They soon thereafter were able to sell the business with the trademarks for a very considerable sum.
