: : : What would happen if I came across a few : : : domain names like rockwellinternational.com : : : or americanexpresscorporation.com and registered them with : : : the intention of selling them? : : : Could I do that? : : You could but you would be looking for trouble. Under the present law you might be in trouble. There is in the works or recently passed law to punish cybersquating. There may even be criminal aspects in the new law. : : M. I know that cybersquatting is done all of the time, My neighbors brother for example is cyber squatting a domain name that disney world is going to need. This is what he does for a business. : He buys and resells domain names. He is doing so well, I thought I would look into it. Is it really going to be illegal and how serious of a crime is it. Dear Raoul, Just because you drive over the speed limit and don't get caught does mean that there is no danger. What is more big companies and afford to spend a lot of money to stop you if they want. You do what you want to do, but my gut says you could get in trouble. M.
