Getting a logo tradmarked

My friend and I have a successful car club with a very unique logo. We don't want anybody to copy it off of the internet when we get our website soon. We believe if it were protected by trademark laws it would be less prone to be stolen from us. Any help on the process of doing this would be a great help.
