: : : For a couple of years, I have owned a URL for my home-based business. Earlier this year, the URL expired and we didn't notice immediately. When I finally went to check on the site, I found that it had been snatched up by a company that profits from the traffic from websites that have since expired. My question is this: I own the trade name of my company in my state, so isn't it illegal for someone to snatch up the URL? I couldn't, for instance, own the URL cocacola.com if they somehow let it expire, could I? I just wonder if I have a leg to stand on if I go up against these guys.
