URL Harassment[ Follow Ups ] [ Post Followup ] [ Trademark Forum ] [ FAQ ] Posted by Joe on April 17, 2003 at 11:08:41:
Hello, I have embarked on a business venture with some partners and recently purchased a number of possible URL’s for this venture. These URL’s were available and purchased one month ago. I recently received a registered letter from a law office claiming that my URL name was infringing on their trademark. If they were concerned about protecting their brand, shouldn't they have purchased numerous derivations of their name rather than coming after our company as well as 4 other small companies. Secondly, we did not get this URL to cybersquat. (By the way, they have no interest in our name availability, just our inability to use it) Fortunately, we have other names and avenues to pursue but I was hoping someone may shed some light on this situation. Is there any protection for URL owners from corporate harassment?
