The abstract answer is, that if you can off the end result, without giving away the farm. You may be safe. I doubt if they would take a confidential disclosure from you. It they would there might be some protection.
A patent might be the way too, if applicable. It is not easy to get a broad patent that fully protects a concept. M. Arthur Auslander
