: As a beginning card designer, should I apply for a Trademark, Copyright or what before I print my card name (like HALLMARK) on the back of my cards I intend to sell? Also, what type of legalities should be considered beyond application of a Trademark etc.? i.e. set up corporation .....? THANK YOU

Dear Carol,
It is almost always prudent to separate your business from yourself wiht a corporation. It is wise to select a trademark. A proper search should be make to reassure the right to the mark.
The cards should be copyrighted. It would be well to understand the whole picture as early as posslible. It can save time money and worry.
