Protect a Picture?

I have created a picture that could be used as a product logo/theme/design, but is not yet attached to a product. I'd like to use the picture on T-shirts, stickers, my website, etc., but want to protect it. Is there any protection for my original artwork, or will I be taking my chances? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
