: I have developed a new algorithm and package for computational fluid Algorithms are not patentable. Methods employing the algorithm may be patentable. If your METHOD has an advantage over what has been done before you may be able to licence or assign your rights for a profit. The concepts in the code can be indpendently recreated if there is no patent. Your code may well be saleable. Your homework is in a "Reality Check" before you count your profits or realize the risks.
