(I suppose I could ask a hapless 3L or a law proffessor, but it's late at night...) : Copyright protect a mode of expression. Modification usually includes the basic copyright. Even if you could get away with it, how are you going to manufacture and sell? Hot rods would not seem to come under copyrights and seem easier to make and sell one by one. : M.
