Patent law career questions[ Follow Ups ] [ Post Followup ] [ Patent Forum ] [ FAQ ] Posted by Ken Huang on November 29, 2003 at 01:21:50:
Hello! Seeing that I have 5 semesters left in my undergraduate experience, I have certain flexibility as to what non-engineering courses that I can take. After reading through boards and websites, I'm under the impression that classes that emphasize writing are strongly recommended. Exactly what type of writing classes would these be? i.e. would technical writing classes be better than more customary pre-law classes like philosophy, history, etc. And are there any other types of classes unrelated to writing that would be benefical? Also, is an internship at a law firm as an undergraduate something that would be worth looking into, or even possible? It seems that law firms are only looking for students already in a law school. And even in the case of managing to secure a said internship as an undergrad, would it be an unwise choice so early in, seeing that law school is by no means a guarantee? I was also wondering if anyone would be willing to answer more questions by e-mail. I'm sure I will have more in the future. Thanks for any responses - they are greatly appreciated!
