How to become eligible for the patent exam?

I'm a PR of Canada, also a Chinese citizen. I have some working experience in patent agency in China, but had no chance to sit for the patent exam before I came to Canada. Since in Canada one must work for no less than 12 months under Canadian patent statute before he/she is eligile for the exam, and if one is not registered patent agent before Canadian patent office, it's hard to find a job in patent agencies. So I hope to take US patent agent exam. Does anybody have any idea how to make myself eligible for the US patent exam? Welcome all kinds of suggestions. Thanks.
